Ob/Gyn chair quoted in media for support of new nonprofit aiming to boost women’s access to health care

Timothy R.B. Johnson, M.D., was recently quoted by several media outlets for his support of a new nonprofit “Right to Health,” to help inform Michiganders on potential new laws that are seen as detrimental to women’s access to health care.

At a press conference launching the new group, Johnson said political language often interferes with patient-doctor relationships.

“The ability to practice medicine is being complicated” by lawmakers, said Johnson, who is the Bates Professor of the Diseases of Women and Children and Chair of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Von Voigtlander Women’s Hospital.

Sen. Gretchen Whitmer (D- East Lansing) is the official spokeswoman for the group.
