Congratulations Natalie Clark, MD - 2012 Joan F. Giambalvo Memorial Scholarship recipient

The American Medical Association (AMA) Women Physicians Congress (WPC) and the AMA Foundation has selected Dr. Natalie Clark as a 2012 Joan F. Giambalvo Memorial Scholarship recipient.

Project title: Conceiving Conception: Fertility Perceptions among American Physicians

Project Summary:  Infertility is a prevalent problem in American society, particularly among those have used the majority of their childbearing years in the pursuit of education, and particularly for women. No studies thus far have examined the incidence and prevalance of infertilty among American physicians. This study serves to examine both the incidence and prevalance of infertility among American physicians and to examine attitudes towards childbearing and fertility planning.

The Giambalvo Grant: The American Medical Association (AMA) Foundation in association with the AMA Women Physicians Congress (WPC) has established the Joan F. Giambalvo Memorial Scholarship Fund providing a $10,000 research award to a qualified applicant with the goal of advancing the progress of women in the medical profession and strengthening the ability of the AMA to identify and address the needs of women physicians and medical students. Research supported by the Joan F. Giambalvo Fund is essential in evaluating the impact of these and other issues regarding women in the medical work force, in facilitating understanding of future practice needs, and in helping the AMA better serve women physicians.
